1. How Bigjpg Uses AI

Bigjpg uses deep convolutional neural networks (deep learning) to perform single-image super-resolution — a technology that enhances the resolution and visual quality of user-provided images.

Our AI models are trained to:

• Upscale low-resolution images to higher resolutions (up to 16x)
• Reduce noise and compression artifacts
• Enhance detail and sharpness in images
• Support both photo and artwork/image illustration styles

Bigjpg's AI is a discriminative model (image enhancement), not a generative model (image creation). Our technology does not create new images, generate synthetic content, or produce fictional scenes from text prompts.

2. What Bigjpg Does NOT Do

It is important to clarify the boundaries of our AI capabilities:

• No text-to-image generation: Bigjpg does not generate images from text descriptions or prompts
• No text-to-video generation: Bigjpg does not generate video content from text
• No synthetic image creation: Bigjpg does not create fictional people, scenes, or objects
• No face swapping: Bigjpg does not provide face swapping or facial reenactment technology
• No deepfake generation: Bigjpg does not create or facilitate deepfake content
• No AI avatar generation: Bigjpg does not generate AI avatars from user photos
• No voice cloning: Bigjpg does not process audio or voice content
• No user-uploaded models: Users cannot upload custom AI models or training datasets
• No user fine-tuning: Users cannot fine-tune our AI models with their own data

3. AI Safety and Responsible Use

Bigjpg implements several measures to ensure our AI technology is used responsibly:

3.1 Purpose Limitation

Our AI models are designed and trained exclusively for image enhancement. The models have no capability to generate new content, produce synthetic media, or perform tasks outside their intended purpose.

3.2 Content Policy Enforcement

We maintain and enforce a comprehensive Content Policy that prohibits the use of our service for illegal, harmful, or abusive purposes. In addition to policy-based enforcement, uploaded files are scanned periodically by Alibaba Cloud Content Moderation Service for NSFW and other prohibited content categories. Flagged content is automatically removed, and accounts found violating these policies are subject to suspension or termination.

3.3 User Controls

Users have visibility into their uploaded content and processing history within their account dashboard. Images are stored temporarily and automatically deleted after the applicable retention period.

4. Transparency and Disclosure

Bigjpg is transparent about its use of AI technology:

• Our website and marketing materials clearly describe the AI-powered nature of our service
• We do not misrepresent AI-enhanced images as authentic unmodified photographs
• Our Terms of Service and Content Policy are publicly available
• This AI Transparency Statement is publicly accessible

5. Compliance with EU AI Act

Bigjpg acknowledges the evolving regulatory landscape for artificial intelligence, including the proposed EU AI Act. Based on our current understanding of the regulatory framework:

5.1 Risk Classification

Image upscaling and enhancement technology, as provided by Bigjpg, does not fall within the high-risk or prohibited AI categories contemplated by the EU AI Act. Our service performs a technical image processing function rather than engaging in high-risk AI use cases such as biometric categorization, social scoring, or generative content creation.

5.2 Transparency Obligations

For AI systems that generate synthetic content (images, video, audio), the EU AI Act contemplates transparency obligations requiring disclosure of AI-generated nature. Because Bigjpg enhances existing user-provided images rather than generating new synthetic content, these specific transparency obligations are generally not directly applicable to our primary service.

Notwithstanding the above, we voluntarily commit to transparent disclosure of our AI capabilities and limitations, as outlined in this statement.

5.3 Ongoing Monitoring

We continuously monitor regulatory developments in AI governance and will update our practices as legal requirements evolve.

6. Watermark Policy

Bigjpg does not apply watermarks to enhanced images, nor does it remove watermarks from uploaded content. The platform processes images as uploaded and preserves existing watermarks, copyright notices, and metadata.

Because Bigjpg does not generate synthetic media (images, video, or audio), watermark requirements specifically targeting generative AI systems are generally not applicable to our primary service.

If regulatory frameworks evolve to require specific labeling of AI-enhanced (rather than AI-generated) images, Bigjpg will comply with such requirements in a timely manner.

7. Synthetic Content Declaration

Bigjpg's service enhances existing images. The output is an improved version of the user's original content. We encourage users to be transparent about their use of AI enhancement tools when sharing enhanced images in contexts where such disclosure is material.

However, because Bigjpg does not generate synthetic images, videos, or audio content from scratch, the types of declarations and labeling requirements designed for generative AI systems that create entirely new synthetic content are not directly applicable to our service.

8. Model Training and Data

Bigjpg's AI models are trained using lawfully obtained datasets. We do not use user-uploaded images to train or improve our AI models unless explicit, informed consent is obtained from users. User privacy and data rights are respected in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Continuous Improvement

AI technology and its regulatory landscape are rapidly evolving. Bigjpg is committed to:

• Regularly reviewing our AI practices against emerging best practices
• Updating this transparency statement as our services and applicable regulations evolve
• Engaging responsibly with the broader discourse on AI governance
